SCHOOL AVOIDER TURNED SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
Welcome, I'm Kate!
When I was growing up school didn’t seem to fit me, or I didn't seem to fit it. In my house it was called ‘The Feeling’. I liked to learn, but I didn’t like to learn at school. I grew up and went to university to study psychology and literature. I launched my career working in schools (a place I never thought I'd work.) It was clear to me then, I didn't want any other child to feel the same unease I had felt in school.
Today, I provide assessments and therapy for children and adolescents with anxiety, learning differences, giftedness, Autism and ADHD. I bring clarity to understanding learning needs, while also offering strategies for navigating daily challenges.
My work with adults includes therapy services for educators, as well as, Autism and ADHD assessments for adult women. I offer a secure base for adult women to wonder about who they are and different ways of thinking and being in the world, through the process of later in life assessment.

COGNITIVE AND EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
Our cognitive and educational assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of a student’s learning profile, identifying strengths and challenges to support their academic growth. We evaluate areas such as cognitive functioning, academic achievement, memory, attention, and executive functioning. The process includes a report with clear results and actionable recommendations tailored to the student’s unique needs. Whether addressing learning difficulties, attention concerns, or giftedness, our assessments provide families and educators with a summary of the learners profile to support the implementation of effective support strategies.

PSYCHOLOGY FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
When a young person is grappling with school anxiety, the demands of ADHD, or the challenge of learning differences, therapy becomes a gentle container for big, overwhelming feelings. My approach uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and polyvagal informed therapy to help children and teenagers not just manage their symptoms, but notice their internal world and social world, advise themselves wisely, and commit to moves that are important to them. This support often involves collaborative parent sessions—because you’re their anchor—and targeted school consultations to ensure a consistent, supportive environment.
For accessibility, services are available with Medicare rebates following a referral from a GP. During out initial conversation, we will discuss a preferred frequency and the planned duration of therapy. I have limited capacity for afternoon appointments each term.
Appointments available for 2026 in clinic.

PSYCHOLOGY FOR TEACHERS
The pressure teachers face today—the workload, the weight of their students' struggles, and the systemic challenges—can leave a heavy, cold residue, manifesting as stress, anxiety, depression, or even the creeping sense of vicarious trauma. I’ve spent countless hours in schools, not as an insider caught in the politics, but as the school psychologist gently positioned one step removed from the immediate school community. This vantage point has offered me a clear, non-judgmental lens into the stressors of a teacher's career. My goal is to create a safe, confidential space where your professional armour can finally drop. The therapy I offer is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), focusing on helping you clarify your core values as an educator, create distance from overwhelming thoughts, and commit to actions that bring vitality back into your life, both inside and outside the classroom. It's about finding the quiet strength to navigate your days without being consumed by them.
These services are available with Medicare rebates when you obtain a referral from your GP. During our initial conversation, we will discuss a preferred frequency and planned duration of therapy.
Appointments available for 2026 both in clinic and Telehealth.
